Like the fine southern day you mentioned there's nothing hotter to wear than a chest rig (excluding full body armor). That said - your example of a time to wear a minimalist carry method is truly justified. I just prefer all the advantages of a belt and harness - minimalist or heavy loaded. I always wondered how you 'ran across' all those 'deals and finds'!👍

I've been looking for a pouch (of some kind) to carry my 1 liter camelbak eddy bottle while hiking. Saw this video yesterday, ran out to my favorite surplus store, and found one (USMC issue) for $10. Works perfectly-- Thank you for bringing it to my attention. Way, WAY better than the ALICE cantine pouches the Army issued to me!

The LBE is actually a chest rig and works great with the old Alice gear. You can buy shoulder pads to attach to the chest rig to make it way more comfortable. I like the chest rig for hauling ammo and run a standard plate carrier to high threat scenarios.

Every house needs a good cooler or two, from parties to power outages. I can buy them used cheaper than any Rubbermaid product. I store everything from medicines to food to blankets in them. In a pinch, they can always be converted to their original use.

Midland isa good radio but like all the others these radio's will only pull one mile in town as it has a 1/2 of a watt radio with a 2 mile range max coverage any thing more than that you should get your license and go for the G M R S side with 5 watts in on a repeater and goes out at 60 watts and covers 20 miles.

Very nice kit. Maybe add some crazy glue? My buddy's dog hit her knee on the prop of his outboard (not running) when she jumped in the water and we were happy to have the crazy glue to do a quick would closure of the gash that may otherwise have needed stitches. SF

I started using the SWAT-T Tq rather than the one that came in our old ifak's because it's wider (more efficient and less tissue damage, easier to use, and it can be used on adults as well as skinny little limbs like kids and dogs. Check them out. They can be used with gauze to make a pressure dressing too. They are rubber so they are also an alternate source of emergency fire starting fuel.) I dig that idea about the proprietary tape! Wish We could talk directly.

I've been thinking about doing the same thing with Plumb riggers hatchet I don't use. I think I will cut the poll off a bit too.

The only complaints I have is the grenade pouch. It's extremely comfortable when heavily loaded down compared to the newer style FLC or taps rig. Excellent piece of kit for any kind of patrolling when lots of sustainment is needed without the use of a rucksack.
